What are the types of bone grafts?

Bone grafts are autografts from the patient's own body, allografts from a human donor, xenografts of animal origin, and synthetic grafts. The surgeon chooses the type based on the procedure and the patient.

Main types

  • Autograft: taken from the patient's own body.
  • Allograft: from a processed human donor source.
  • Xenograft: from a processed animal source.
  • Synthetic grafts: manufactured materials such as calcium phosphate.

Applications

Bone grafts are used in orthopedic, spine, neuro and dental surgery. We supply them with our UK partner Cenobiologics.
